South Korea has unveiled its first domestically developed utility helicopter.
A ceremony was held Friday for the unveiling of the "Surion" utility helicopter at Korea Aerospace Industries in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province.
Numerous government officials, including President Lee Myung-bak, were in attendance.
The Surion is the result of a three-year, one-point-three-trillion-won project and is expected to replace aging military choppers and propel the domestic aerospace industry forward.
With Friday's unveiling, South Korea has become only the world's eleventh nation to produce an indigenous helicopter. |
