South Korea has decided to purchase, in stages, multiple units of Lockheed Martin¡¯s C-130J military transport aircraft.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said Friday in a report to the National Assembly that it will pursue a direct contract, without the use of an intermediary, in purchasing the aircraft.
The C-130J is capable of transporting and delivering at low altitudes cargo and over 120 armed soldiers.
The administration also plans to buy ten mine-resistant vehicles and explosive ordinance disposal robots for use by the Korean troops who will be deployed in Afghanistan later this year.
